Welcome to the website for Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Research Project 0-4451:  Alternative Funding Solutions for ITS Deloyment.  This is a one year project that is being performed by the Texas Transportation Institute and the Center for Transportation Research.

The objective of this research project is to examine a variety of approaches and alternatives for acquiring future funding for ITS deployment within the State of Texas. This objective will be accomplished through the following activities:

1) identifying stakeholders and possible beneficiaries of ITS technologies (as potential funding sources)

2) identifying alternative funding solutions and programs

3) detecting potential barriers to implementing new funding alternatives

4)developing strategies for overcoming potential barriers and implementing promising alternatives

The product of this research effort will be a guidebook outlining promising programs and approaches for obtaining future funds for deploying ITS technologies in the State of Texas.
